Prof. Kora Kimpel

Since 2004 Kora Kimpel is professor at the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK) in design with digital media at the department of visual communication. She is deputy director of the Institute for timebased Media and teaches in the MBA program at the University of St. Gallen.

The emphasis in her teaching and research explores the possibilities of digital media from the physical computing to generative design modules, where new technologies are used, analyzed, manipulated. Another focus is on basic research in digital design.

Kora Kimpel studied industrial design with a focus on interface design at the HBK Braunschweig and the Universidad de Bellas Artes in Barcelona. Since 1994 she lives and works as a interface designer in Berlin. From 1999-2002 she was Design Director Online Strategy at MetaDesign Berlin. Her works represent a range of exhibition design to interface studies.

Since 2008 board member of the German Society for Design Theory and Research (DGTF).
